"Blossoming" Glass Sculpture
University of Toledo, Ohio
Glass & Steel Sculpture
14' diameter x 9'6" tall
The sculpture is designed to beautify the architectural space, uplift the human spirit, and also serve as an educational commentary. It uses the transformation of a seed into a richly nuanced flower to speak of the educational process. Seeds are represented by the small forms hanging from the center of the artwork. Six large flower petals unfold exuberantly above them.
The movement is symbolic of students coming to the University of Toledo and rising "upward" through their academic programs. Nurtured by the educational experience, each student's potential metaphorically blossoms into the flower above.
